The creation of perfumes with strong brand universes through license agreements contributes to strengthening the portfolio of Clarins Group brands and leveraging its expertise in the creation and distribution of products.

To optimize contributions from its foreign sales operations, the Group also develops partnerships to distribute cosmetics of prestigious brands such as Hermès, Burberry, Cartier, Jean Paul Gaultier, Issey Miyake or Nuxe in selected markets.

Lastly, financial investments in companies that the Group has identified as offering strategic potential also provide opportunities for synergies and sharing expertise.

Kibio

Created in 2005 by Pierre Cabane and Laurent Potier, Kibio has developed a line of organic products certified by the Cosmebio/Ecocert label. The Kibio brand has a portfolio of 31 products with sales of €1.85 million. It is distributed through direct sales that build strong brand loyalty, and in pharmacies and parapharmacies. Thanks to the design and the quality of its products, Kibio rapidly became a major actor on the organic market. In 2007, the Clarins Pontoise factory obtained the Ecocert label for the production of organic products and by the end of 2008 all production for Kibio products will be transferred to this facility.

Porsche Design

In June 2006 Loris Azzaro Perfumes signed a long-term partnership agreement with Porsche Design, the prestigious brand of men's accessories created by Ferdinand Alexander Porsche (grandson of the car company's founder and designer of the Porsche 911). The brand's first fragrance will combine the highest standards of traditional perfumery with pure and modern lines for packaging developed by Porsche Design Studio. It will be launched in the second half of 2008 in Porsche Design stores and multi-brand points of sale through the international network of Clarins Group.

David Yurman

Clarins Inc., the Group's subsidiary in the United States concluded a license agreement in October 2006 with the jeweller David Yurman for the creation of prestige beauty and fragrance products. The first line to be launched in the 2008 second half will be destined primarily for the US market where David Yurman is a leading fine jewellery and luxury watch brand. David Yurman's strong national name recognition provides a perfect fit with the expertise and market positioning of Clarins.

Swarovski

In March 2008, through our subsidiary Thierry Mugler Parfums, we signed an exclusive license agreement with Swarovski, the world's leading producer of precision-cut crystal, for the worldwide distribution and creation of "Swarovski Beauty", a line of fragrances, make-up and Swarovski beauty accessories. The combined expertise and reputation of Swarovski and Thierry Mugler Parfums will bring the world of cosmetics to new and innovative heights. The launch date is planned for 2010. The "Swarovski Beauty" range will be distributed in selective perfumeries, prestige department stores and Swarovski boutiques worldwide.

Stella Cadente

The license agreement with Stella Cadente was signed in 2002. The resulting perfume Miss Me was inspired by the timeless creations of the ready-to-wear fashion designer, in a universe evoking both magic and modernity. This perfume, subsequently extended to include anciliary products for the body is distributed in France and in a few other countries.

L’Occitane

In 2001 Clarins concluded a partnership agreement with L'Occitane to participate in its development. In addition to its value as a financial investment, this partnership with the French Provencal brand provides an opportunity to pool resources of the two companies for research and distribution and opening boutiques. This partnership has been pursued even though Clarins has since converted L’Occitane bonds and resold part of its shares in the company. Today the Group has a 10.05% stake in L’Occitane. The products of L’Occitane are distributed in Italy and Malaysia through Clarins Group subsidiaries and in Switzerland, Mexico and South Korea through joint ventures that allow L’Occitane to manage its points of sales while benefiting from the logistical and administrative support of Clarins.
